Fostering Foundations for Tomorrow
"Nga Awhiina Manaakitanga mo apopo"

We are committed to creating a caring and educational environment
aimed at fostering foundations for each child's future.

North Haven Child Care & Education Centre is an early childhood service offering preschool education and care for infants, toddlers and young children. North Haven is administered by the Aoraki Community Education Trust Board. We are open between the hours of 7.45am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. The Centre is closed all public holidays, two weeks at Christmas and the Tuesday after Easter.

The current North Haven building was built in 1990 and is situated on Arthur Street, Timaru, opposite the main entrance to the Aoraki Polytechnic.

Philosophy

North Haven Child Care and Education Centre will provide a caring and educational environment that will be enriched by the culture and beliefs of children, their parents/whanau and educators, thus developing a sense of belonging.  To achieve this, the teachers/educators and parents/whanau will work in partnership to provide a holistic programme for children.

All children will be treated with respect, their mistakes supported and their achievements affirmed.

North Haven will provide opportunities where children are the active explorers, using a safe environment as the third teacher and valuing child intiated play.

Regulations

North Haven Child Care and Education Centre abides by the Early Childhood Education Regulations (1998), Desirable Objectives and Practices, Te Whaariki, Early Childhood Curriculum and centre philosophy and policies.
